It felt like it wasn't sure if it wanted to be serious or funny...so it was too serious to be funny...but too funny to be serious. It's like Disney got a hold of a movie sccript that was creepy and serious and said "hey, we have a pirate ride...let's name it after the ride and put some comedy in...take out some of the gruesome bits...and make it."

Pretty apt, I thought...
