... I'm drinking what hopefully is my last alcoholic drink ever. If it's not then I have no will. Alcohol has been part of my life for the last 14 years. 14 years... that's longer than 99% of the frienships/relationships I have now. The only people I still know from back then are my immediate family and the man that will be my best man if I ever get hitched. That's over half of it that I've fucked up, that I've messed up, that I've wasted, forgotten and thrown up. From here on in, I'm in control and can do whatever I want with my life. I've been without net access at home fer the last few weeks.

What have I been up to you ask?
Okay, so no-one actually asked that cos yer just staring at a monitor reading and you're not actually that stupid. Although if you are, I love you lots and lots in a special way that only I can. In the ear.

Well, without the world wide web in my bedroom I've been out on the piss.
A lot.

I've been working two jobs so I've been pretty flat out knackered, but the only thing that takes the edge of a nice 16 hour working day is an ice cold beer at 2am.
This is a genetically proven fact y'know.
Scientists in coats and everything.
I know this because Tyler knows this.

I've had some really fucking amazing nights though.
So I'm not complaining.

Although I dare not look at my bank balance.

It's absolutely pissing down with rain outside, we're talking mountain lions and wolves never mind cats and dogs.
I just thought I'd share that random insight because it's what I do best.
It was amazingly sunny yesterday too which is a bastard.
I really have to leave this place in a few hours too.
Grr.

Anyway, I've also moved rooms.
I basically live one floor below where I have been for the last 3 months, in a room that's like 3 times the size.
So fucking lush.
Even though I've probably spent a total of 20 hours in it over the last week.
Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, or employed. Or something.

Pretty funny actually, and really well done.

I've neglected this place lately, this I know.
I'm in a strange state of mind these days. Lethargy's kinda setting in. Or at least maybe just a state of familiar contentment.
I'm at a point of my life where I'm setting into routines again. Not yet a rut, but not something I want to stick with.

I definitely feel less intelligent and less creative than I have done before. My intelligence has continuously declined for the last nine years. Shit, almost ten years since I finished school. Oh well.
I don't think it's the fact that I'm no longer in education that's the problem; I feel I know more now than I did then, only now it's a much broader range of information. I know a little bit about lots of things, with no specialist subject anymore. My head is full of information; memories, faces, people, names, facts so much that it's hard to seem knowledgeable about anything in particular. More just a slight dabbling of fingers in various pots.

I suppose it's for that reason i can't hold conversations for shit these days. I genuinely find myself running out of things to say, where once I could just ramble on about bullshit for days on end.
Maybe I'm just a bit more reserved these days.
The only topic I know about is me, and I don't like to talk about me.
Though ironically I'm managing to waffle on all this shit here.

As to lack of creativity.. hmm.. I have ideas and aspirations, just no energy. I'm constantly tired and unmotivated physically and mentally. I'm sure it's down to my diet or something like that, but it's my own fault for being slack in taking care of myself.
I tend to go through stages of crativity.
Fits and bursts of one thing at one time.
At the moment I'm reading a lot.
Not strictly creative I know, but I tie it all in together.
I've read almost 5 novels in the last month. Big long ass page counts.
Getting a lot out of each one. Mental stimulation and enjoyment and such.
I'm sure as soon as I've read myself to irritation I'll move on and splash out into drawing or painting, or perhaps even writing. I haven't done that for a bit.

My health's up and down; I'm not anywhere near fit anymore. Again it's my fault. Drinking hasn't helped, and for every detox month I have, I'll have 2 binge months.

I'm making some decent friendships, relationships and contacts though.
Yet I'm losing and breaking some.

Such is life I suppose; I've often thought of the concept of a soulmate as time defined. How if people connect, even if just for a day, a night, a minute, a second, then for that moment in time their souls were entwined and a unique bond was created, no matter for how long. The connection and the memories that stay are the important part. And memories are something I have lots of. Even if I don't have the people around anymore, or make any attempt to contact them.
Maybe that's just how I justify the fact that I'm a crap friend/boyfriend/partner, crap at staying in touch and just generally treat people like shit.
I'll never know.
I can only be me and can't change for anyone but me.

Fuck, I've been sat here for an hour now.
I really didn't mean to dwell on any of this shit, it all just kinda flowed.
Maybe that's good, it has been in the past.

If anyone is actually reading this, feel free to reply and just generally abuse me.

So, as I write this it's February 3rd.

This means I've gone a whole month without alcohol.

This was for a few reasons;

alpha)I was as broke as fuck after Christmas/New Year. Not drinking, and thus going out drinking associated spendage (taxi's, entrance fees, food after etc.), has saved me approx £200 this month

2)

I visited the dentist in January for the first time in.. well.. 10 years.
That's 10 years I've been drinking increasingly, including my proper alcoholic stage, and my redbull years.
My teeth are fucked to say the least, but I'm going about changing that now.

and c)I just wanted to prove to myself I could do it.

I may carry on with it, I'm unsure as of now.

I quite like being in control, but wonder how much of my 'zany outgoing persona' is down to it. I mean most of my 'amusing' anacdotes and tales start with a drink/take place in pubs/bars etc...

Beer-crazy Britons woke up this week to news that a new hangover-free beer invented by an Indian expert will soon hit the stands - spreading cheer particularly among those with beer-bellies.

For, the beer, branded as the Ladybird Bio Beer, claims to cut cholesterol and eases conditions such as asthma and arthritis. But it will pack the same punch as any average beer available in Britain.

The beer, invented by Srinivasa Amarnath over 10 years, is said to contain ingredients to stop revellers getting a sore head the next morning. It also uses the usual ingredients such as barley, malt and hops.

The vitamin-rich beer is five percent proof and contains extracts of aloe vera and the herbs phyllanthus niruri and ashwagandha, which have medicinal qualities. Reports said the beer is already a massive hit in India, where it was launched last year.

Amarnath was quoted in reports here as saying: "Following extensive research Bio beer has outperformed in all areas including taste, smell and ingredients."

He claimed that imbibing the beer regularly can help prevent ulcers, gastric problems and "other harmful effects of drinking".

Bio beer will initially be sold in bars and restaurants from this week, priced at 1.89 pounds for a 650-millilitre bottle.

So, September the fourth marked the two year anniversary of my blogging.
3 different domains and several sabbaticals later and I'm still carrying on with it.
All the archives are still there, if you haven't read them all. I'm not necessarilly saying there's anything worth reading in them, but hey...
This should be post #504 so that's less than a post a day.
I suppose with all the time out I took, and the very limited net access I have these days that's quite a lot.
Though 99% of it is shit(The other 1% is stuff nicked from elsewhere).

I'm not quite sure where this blog fits in to the world.
It doesn't have a set niché or topic to categorise it, and so because of that it doesn't really get read.
My friends read it for which I'm greatful.
Even without the comments I know they're checking up on me occasionally.
Which is cool.
The thing I use my blog for the most (other than bitching and venting, naturally) is probably reading other peoples. I find it easier ucing the blogrolly sidebar than using a favourites list/folder.
Dunno why... it's just like a homepage portal I suppose.
Even though my own site isn't set as my home page.
Fuck knows.
I say that a lot really.

Okay, so I live in a city with a large art university. Funnily enough it's where I studied. The community around me is quite an artistic one, yet at a infant stage in it's development. There's lots of artistic types around, and lots of schemes and projects in the works. This is pretty reassuring to me, and gives me some confidence and encouragement when I need it. I'm not sure exactly what it is I'm going to do, or how I'm going to do it, but I KNOW that I am going to do it. Whatever IT is.
As to the total immersion... within this city of artistic types, there's a lot of grafitti around. Legally it's vandalism, but it's not just your usual tagging and obscene gestures everywhere. There's loads of really creative really cool artwork everywhere around the town, from Banksy-esque template spraypaintings to full works of art. There's one particular tunnel that leads from the pub/club side of town to the university art block (and local football ground), which for the last 4 years has had stuff painted on the inside. Every summer the government will paint over it, and a few days later a new 'gallery' of artwork will be there for public consumption. I can't remember what was up the first three years I lived here, but the (educational) year just gone by there was an amazing, lifesize painting of the Grim Reaper. I've included a dodgy phone cam pic of one of the more impressive pics wiht this post, an when I get my new digital camera I plan on collecting a whole web-album of stuff around here. I've got no part in any of it; I wish I was that artistic, but I'm not. It's just stuff that's really cool, that I appreciate. Hopefully the Reaper'll be there.

Rich Johnston's brought to light some possibly very scary news about a change in Diamond's policies. A bit too long for me to post here, but the jist seems bad;

This Wednesday, it was announced that there will be a $600 minimum on all purchase orders. Which means every listing has to generate a minimum of $600 wholesale (around $1500 retail) before Diamond will pass it on to be filled by the publisher. That's around 500 copies, and this applies to Order Again listings as well.
