Artist wins battle over Barbie

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/nation/2650329

Seven years ago when Tom Forsythe, an artist and photographer, was searching for a subject for a new project, he settled on Barbie -- producing a series of 78 photographic images of the wildly famous doll showing her nude, and sometimes posed provocatively, in or around various household appliances.

...

After a lengthy legal tussle, which included a series of appeals, a federal judge late last week ruled that artists are allowed to play with dolls.

More fun with the store

Dashboard Dilemma?

Can anyone else who uses Blogger help me out with something?

Has your dashboard been showing the same number of posts for ages now?

Apparantly no matter how many posts I make, I've made 396...

UPDATED:

Okay, me posting that seems to have kickstarted it, and apparantly this was/is my 400th post.

Shatner 'recording Pulp song'

William Shatner is reportedly recording a cover version of a Pulp song.

The Sun says the Star Trek actor is recording a cover of Common People.

The new song is a duet with singer Joe Jackson.

Shatner's music career so far has not been too illustrious. A character in the Simpsons once claimed to have used a Star Wars gun to prevent him ever recording another album.

Shrek 2

I'll start off by saying I haven't actually seen all of the first film.
At the time I watched it I'd been up for the best part of thirty odd hours, and what I saw of it bored me so I just went to sleep part of the way in.

It didn't matter tho, everything that I needed to know was explained in the first minute or so, and let's face it, I didn't really need to know...

I enjoyed the film a lot actually.
Was good to just flop back and relax in front of something.
It wasn't as adult orientated as I'd heard the first one was, but like I say I can't judge.
There were some pretty funny visuals and lines, and some pretty broad adult humour to it.

As with most animated films I was marvelling at the technology, and slobbering over the detail to the hands.

And of course there was the usual 'spot the celebrity voice artist' game.

Not a bad ol' flick at all.

Bollywood does Spider-Man

http://www.gothamcomics.com/spiderman_india/

SPIDER-MAN INDIA – SPIDER-MAN EXTENDS FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD TO STREETS OF BOMBAY!

Bangalore, India (June 14, 2004) — Marvel Comics & Gotham Entertainment Group – Indian publishing licensee of Marvel Comics and the leading publisher of international comic magazines in South Asia – announces the launch of Spider-Man India.

Spider-Man India interweaves the local customs, culture and mystery of modern India, with an eye to making Spider-Man’s mythology more relevant to this particular audience. Readers of this series will not see the familiar Peter Parker of Queens under the classic Spider-Man mask, but rather a new hero – a young, Indian boy named Pavitr Prabhakar. As Spider-Man, Pavitr leaps around rickshaws and scooters in Indian streets, while swinging from monuments such as the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal.

Mumbai’s (Bombay’s) first web-swinging superhero will be joined by a reinterpretation of the classic Spider-Man villain, the Green Goblin -- reinvented as a Rakshasa, an Indian mythological demon.

“We feel this is one of the most exciting and unique projects in comic history,” said Gotham Entertainment Group CEO Sharad Devarajan. “Unlike traditional translations of American comics, Spider-Man India will become the first-ever ‘transcreation,’ where we reinvent the origin of a Western property like Spider-Man so that he is an Indian boy in Mumbai and dealing with local problems and challenges.”

Yahoo Messenger 6.0

People might have had this for a while, I'm not usually on the ball with this sort of thing.

So, messenger's had a bit of an update.

Most noticeably it's all a bit XP-ey with that lovely rounded feel to it all.
Other than that, it's got a few of the elements that MSN Messenger 6.2 has, with the ability to have custom images and such.
All the usual shit such as custom skins and that are there.
The menu's have had a bit of a juggle, so that'll take a bit to get used to.

One interesting addition is the use of an integrated Yahoo LAUNCHcast radio player, built in to the messenger, accessed from one of the tabs at the bottom.

It seems to work fine, I haven't coem across any major bugs or let downs yet, although changing id's in it is awkward.
They've removed the "Sign In" option that previous versions had, so now you have to sign out first, then change log in details and sign back in again.
I don't exactly use multiple id's so it's not a problem, but it's something I noticed.

Interlude

For every up comes two downs.

Nothing is ever finished.

Nothing is ever fixed, only temporarilly patched together.

Swept under the rug after only just being noticed.

Just as you get into something and something starts to work, it's over.

Beer Guts?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004272602,00.html

TWO pints a day keep you healthier than being teetotal and do NOT create a beer gut, a study found.

Up to four units a day of wine or spirits for men and two for women also do the trick.

Deaths from coronary heart disease — Britain’s biggest killer — would soar by 80,000 a year in America if drinkers packed in booze. Light drinking also wards off Type 2 diabetes.

The US National Institute of Alcohol and Alcoholism analysed mountains of previous research.

Its scientists concluded the biggest risks are liver disease and accidents.

They did not find a link between booze and fat.

But they warned: “A moderate drinker may lower his risk of heart disease only to die of cirrhosis.”

There really are some sad people in the world

I'm at that point again.
Slap back exactly where I was three years ago.
Only this time it's worse.
It's more serious.
I'm deeper into it all.

I'm fucked off with the whole situation.
I'm fucked off with whats happened.
I'm fucked off with what I've done.
I'm fucked off with what I've become.

I've made things worse.
Which I really didn't think was possible.

I can't even talk anymore.
I could talk three years ago.
I could communicate.
I was an actual person.

Now I'm nothing.
I'm a fucking statistic.

I really cannot describe how much I loathe myself right now.
How fucking pissed off I am with myself.
I just want to rip my skull off and slap my brains about a table a bit.

I'm useless.
I'm a failiure.
I cannot do a single fucking thing right.

No matter how much I try, I always fail.
I fall at the final hurdle.
I generally fuck things up.

Everything, big or small.
I crash and burn.

As I sit here waiting for the elastic to snap, waiting for this pathetic excuse for a life to consume and swallow me up, the only thing I feel is hatred.

I hate myself.

I've never hated myself properly.
I've hated my life.
I've hated things about me.
I've hated things I've done.
But I've never hated myself untill now.

As of this moment I don't have one redeeming quality.

I've even practically thrown away the one thing worth living for.

Fuck it all.

Jerkin' to Stay Thin

Masturbating makes you thin, according to a Japanese doctor. Hideo Yamanaka says "Ejaculation raises the basic metabolism of muscles and consumes calories. An ordinary young person would have to do it 100 or more times a month for it to have any effect... four or five times a day, if you're really serious." He calculates that for each two kilos of body weight you want to lose you'd need to use up 2 litres of semen.

Devotee Gomesu Yamada says "It's hard enough just to spurt so often, but to get the full benefits of aerobic exercise, it's necessary for the process to be maintained for at least 15 minutes before ejaculation occurs." They've named the practice Onani-bics.

Brain-controlled video game made

A video game where the character is controlled directly from a player's brain, has been made by researchers.
Mind Balance uses a new wireless headset which picks up brain wave patterns through special electrodes.

The player's brain is "tuned in" by concentrating on flashing images, and then they can control the game.

The technology could be used in future computer games, and could also help scientists make special computers to help people who can't move well.

Audience ratings for Channel 4's fifth series of Big Brother have dropped sharply after 6.7 million people tuned in to watch the launch night.
